Carrollton Residents See Biggest Bang for their Buck

Post Date:04/03/2014 7:00 AM

National energy marketplace SaveOn Energy ranked the City of Carrollton number six on its Ten Texas Cities to get the “Biggest Bang for your Buck.”

The rankings, featuring Texas cities with a population of 75,000 or more, examined unemployment rates, household income, housing costs, utility bills, and crime rates. It compared the findings against national averages and found Carrollton’s figures in line with surrounding areas like Frisco, Garland, and Richardson.

The list was assembled to help potential home buyers and individuals looking to relocate find the all-around best place in Texas to make the most of their spending.

“As a suburb of Dallas, Carrollton offers the small city feel with all the amenities of living in a major metropolitan area,” Brittany Williams, SaveOn Energy staff writer reported. “Close to major employers, including the Baylor Medial Center at Carrollton, there are plenty of job opportunities, resulting in a low unemployment rate. Residents' household income also exceeds the national average by more than $15,000 and with houses priced well below the state's average, that extra income can be stretched a long way in Carrollton.”

Round Rock tops the list, but other cities that appear include Midland, Grand Prairie, Pearland, League City, and Abilene.

SaveOn Energy serves as a comparison tool for residential and commercial customers seeking new plans for electricity or natural gas.
