The high winds and severe thunderstorms that hit Carrollton early in the morning of April 10 will certainly go down as one of the most significant weather events in the City’s history. The widespread damage caused by this storm included downed power lines, tree debris and structural damage to houses and fences in every area of the City, making cleanup a massive effort.
Due to the sheer volume of debris, in some areas, it took longer than anticipated to pick up large piles of brush. This process was especially challenging at times, due to narrow roads and low hanging power lines, which made bringing in large equipment such as grappler trucks even more difficult.

However, as of Monday, May 5, the first phase of the City’s storm recovery effort was completed and the City’s service provider was caught up on all bulk pickup routes. Allied Waste Services has collected over 3,845 tons of storm debris between April 11 and May 5.
This cleanup process could go on for several more weeks and more large-scale pickups could be needed. Regular garbage, recycling and small item bulk service continues to be on schedule. Click here for additional storm cleanup information and details about repairs, permits and contractors.
